Коллеги,

Один мой друг, который закончил EMBA в London Business School, поделился списком книг, которые им давали читать перед началом программы. Там много чего интересного, так что спешу поделиться. Надеюсь, будет полезно не только поступающим и поступившим.

Background reading:

The Winner's Curse: Paradoxes and Anomalies of Economic Life by Richard Thaler
Literate, challenging, and often funny examples of such anomalies as why the winners at auctions are often the real losers.

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator by Edwin Lefevre
Originally published in 1923, it continues to inspire each new generation of investors.

Why Globalisation Works by Martin Wolf
The FTs Economics editor with a lucid account of the workings of globalisation, its problems and potential and his reasons for supporting the process.

In the Footsteps of Mr. Kurtz: Living on the Brink of Disaster in the Congo by Michela Wrong
The tragic modern tale of Zaire/D.R.Congo written by the FT's ex-African correspondent. A compelling narrative which offers numerous insights into globalisation , government and what makes for a healthy economy and society.

What Management Is by Joan Magretta
It is one of the very few well-written books about management around and an excellent overall introduction to the subject.

EXECUTION: the discipline of getting things done by Larry Bossidy
Essential reading before papers are due in!

False Dawn: The Delusions of Global Capitalism by John Gray
A counter to the business school orthodoxy.

Runaway World: How Globalization is Reshaping Our Lives by Anthony Giddens
Check out Giddens on globalisation.

Managing the Human Animal by Nigel Nicholson
Lively and controversial in style for an intelligent lay readership.

The heart aroused, poetry and preservation of the soul in corporate America by David Whyte
Creativity and behaviour explored in a thought provoking and inspired way.

The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Eliyahu M. Goldratt
Two million copies sold. Introduces the theory of constraints and changed how the US does business.

Reading the Mind of the Organization by Anna-Maria Garden
A truly thought provoking book that is full of very proactive ideas and advice.

Brand Warriors by Fiona Gilmore
Simply the best branding book

The Living Company by Arie De Geus
One of the most important books - is a business a ‘living work community’ or a purely economic machine.

Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't by Jim Collins
It makes a persuasive case for companies that have dramatically improved their fortunes by sticking to one strategy over a very long period of time

Inventing Money: The Story of Long-Term Capital Management and the Legends Behind It by Nicolas Dunbar
Literate, challenging, and often funny examples of such anomalies as why the winners at auctions are often the real losers

The Fifth Discipline by Peter M. Senge
The ideal, even inspirational introduction to corporate frameworks.

Foundations of Corporate Success: How Business Strategies Add Value by John Kay
A new approach to corporate strategy and analysis and an ideal synthesis of an academic economist's approach to business issues at a level of clarity rarely seen in business school  publications

Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
It comes as close as any in history to defining happiness and explaining how we achieve it.

Living Strategy: Putting People at the Heart of Corporate Purpose by Lynda Gratton
The how and why of designing strategies that have meaning and purpose for people.

All the Right Moves: A Guide to Crafting Breakthrough Strategy by Constantinos Markides
